Monday, 19 February – day of two FREE events for Sussex launch of The Old Weird Albion
*19th Feb Noon-2pm – ‘Time and Relative Dimensions in Place, FuseBox Brighton.
Brown bag lunch discussion and walk with science-fiction author (and Fusebox writer-in-residence) Al Robertson. We’ll discuss virtual spaces in (real) public places related to memory (as in my book) and technology (as in the work at Fusebox). Afterwards we’ll put the forthcoming ideas into action on a stroll around Brighton. Free, registration recommended.

*19th Feb 5pm-6:30pm – The Old Weird Albion book launch, University of Sussex (Fulton bldg, rm 103).
I’ll read from and discuss the book, with further readings and work by the Lewes Psychogeography Group and with Dr Hope Wolf of U/Sussex, co-director of Centre for Modernist Studies and curator of Sussex Modernism. Wine ‘n’ nibbles provided, registration recommended.

Sat., 24 Feb., 6:30-7:30pm – Faversham Literary Festival, The Limes pub, Faversham, in discussion with Gary Budden (author of The Hollow Shore).
Gary and I will read and discuss his wonderful book as well as the weirdness of ‘place’, messiness of time, and the general ill-mannered nature of our contemporary relationship to landscape. £3, booking recommended.

Fri., 20 April, 7:30pm – Bishops House, Sheffield, Yorkshire, with Sharron Kraus.
Sharron and I will perform the readings-and-live-music piece Chanctonbury Rings (working title) – a reworked chapter from The Old Weird Albion set to Sharron’s new wyrd-folk compositions. (I like to think of it, rather grandly, as in the tradition of Victor Neuburg and Peter Warlock; or Hardy and Finzi’s ‘By Footpath & Stile’.) The wonderful poet Chris Jones of Sheffield’s magnificent Longbarrow Press will join us with readings of his work. £7 includes event, wine, etc, booking recommended.

Tues., 1 May, sunrise and evening – Steyning, W Sussex, with Sharron Kraus and more.
Sharron and I will lead a performance and ritual at Chanctonbury Ring after the Morris Men dance in the May. Participants TBC and hopefully include YOU. (FREE, obviously, as it’s atop a hill. Also possibly weather-dependent.) That evening we will perform our Chanctonbury Rings collaboration in (and, believe me, I cannot believe I’m saying this) the Gluck Studio, Chantry House, Steyning – the studio once used by the artist Gluck, and the house in which Yeats wrote the play Purgatory and the poems Under Ben Bulben, Politics, Those Images, Long-legged Fly and more of her greatest end-of-life works. Event put together by the truly amazing Steyning Bookshop, more information to come. (NO LINK AVAILABLE YET.)

Tues., 3 July, 7pm(?) – Hemmingways bar poetry series, Pittsburgh, PA, with poets TBC.
I’ll read from The Old Weird Albion in what I suppose is the book’s Pittsburgh launch event, despite having been out for 9 months. The Hemmingways poetry series was the first poetry event I went to regularly, and that was in circa 1990. So a) it’s amazing that it’s still going strong at the same place, and b) I am very excited to read there. (Note that link doesn’t have 2018 dates yet.)
